Oversheathing and Cable Conversion
Concept Cables can take your existing cables and modify them to meet your requirements. This can be done by adding an additional jacket either to suit a specific environmental condition and to meet safety or performance standards, or just to change the colour to aid identification and maintenance.
Common polymers are:
- Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), a low cost option usually specified where just a colour change is required.
- Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE), suitable for direct burial
- Low Smoke, Halogen free and Flame Retardant compounds LSF, LSOH) for construction and facility installations.
- Polyurethane (TPU) for water submersion or high abrasion resistance.
Other polymers can also be offered.
Depending on the cable design, existing jackets can be removed to retain the original outside diameter. EMF screens, braided armour or strength members can also be added to the construction to enhance the performance and offer extra protection.
Retractable Cables
Concept Cables manufactures a wide range of retractable cables to customer specifications, offering a comprehensive choice of coil diameters and extendable lengths of up to 25 metres. These cables can be produced in small batch quantities for specialist applications or in large production volumes to support ongoing manufacturing requirements.
Each retractable cable can be carefully designed to deliver maximum performance and long service life, tailored precisely to its intended application. This includes selecting the most suitable construction and jacket material, with polymer options such as PVC, Polyurethane, or TPE to meet environmental, mechanical, and flexibility demands.
Retractable cables are commonly used in applications such as retractable masts, portable and mobile equipment, control systems, instrumentation leads, and other installations where cables must extend and retract reliably while remaining tidy and protected. Their design helps reduce tangling, mechanical strain, and wear, improving safety, usability, and overall system longevity.
In addition to manufacturing complete retractable cable assemblies, Concept Cables can also coil customer-supplied free-issue cables sourced from other manufacturers, applying the same controlled curling process to ensure consistent performance and durability.
